About

Why Hire a Coach?

At its simplest, coaching is a partnership between a coach and a client, coming together to identify a goal, and then developing actionable steps to achieve that goal.

You should consider hiring a coach if:

  • You struggle to follow through on your goals

  • You sometimes get in your own way

  • You don’t know where to start

  • Life feels less engaging or too chaotic

  • Anxiety and stress are getting the best of you

As your coach, I can help you through various life transitions, loss and can help you improve your relationships. I can also help you with creating structure in your life, determining what’s next or finding your vision and then establishing a plan of action.

“When you challenge yourself to stretch towards a higher level of your abilities, you also increase your overall well-being.” -Douglas LaBier, Ph.D

Approach

Positive psychology is a method used in various types of counseling, where there is significant focus on a person’s strengths, talents and virtues. It studies how these factors can positively affect a person’s development to lead a more well-rounded and meaningful life.

Martin Seligman, known as the founder of positive psychology, defines it as, “the scientific study of optimal human functioning that aims to discover and promote the factors that allow individuals and communities to thrive.”

In short, instead of determining what you’re good at, positive psychology helps us determine how you are good.

Our Stories

As an experienced wellness professional working with diverse populations from all walks of life for decades, I use various theories rooted in positive psychology to help my clients achieve a better understanding of themselves and build on their strengths in order to grow. One-on-one sessions provide a roadmap for achieving realistic and actionable goals for long-lasting change.

I’m a first-generation Latinx womxn who grew up on the Mexican-American border, and am proud to now call Sacramento home with my husband and teenage daughter.

What’s your story? How can I help you shape it?

I’m Marie!

I have a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and am a certified ICF Coach. I’ve worked as a social worker and counselor for over 20 years in non-profit, hospice and government agencies. I have had the pleasure of working with a culturally diverse population of people, young and old, coming from all walks of life. I am a proud Spanish speaker.

To relax, I take long walks with my dog Sasha in our neighborhood and occasionally take her to the river. I also enjoy doing yoga, reading and enjoying a glass of wine or two on my porch with my husband. For fun, I love dancing, trying out new restaurants, and having game nights with my family.

Let’s work together to identify your strengths and needs and apply them towards your goals, making sure that you are the driving force behind your own achievements.
